Privacy Policy

This policy covers Vidly, the reading app for Android and iOS, and the account you create to use it. Vidly is operated by VidyaDaily.

1. Information we collect

Account information.Email address, and optionally a phone number, display name, profile photo, and date of birth. Date of birth is only used to determine eligibility for age-banded reading campaigns (see “Read & Rewards” in the app) — it is never shown to other users.

Reading activity. Books you read, reading progress and sessions, highlights, bookmarks, notes, quiz results, reading streaks and goals.

Gamification & rewards. Points earned, point redemptions, achievements, and leaderboard standing.

AI chat.Messages you send to Vidly's AI reading assistant, so it can answer you and so we can enforce your plan's monthly usage limit.

Device & diagnostic information. A push notification token (if you enable notifications) and crash/error diagnostics from the app, used only to fix bugs and keep the app reliable.

Payment information.Vidly does not collect or process payment details itself. Physical book purchases open the publisher's, author's, or marketplace's own site in your browser — any payment you make there is handled entirely by that third party under its own privacy and payment terms.

2. How we use this information

• To provide the reading, quiz, AI chat, and rewards features of the app.
• To personalize recommendations and track your reading progress and streaks.
• To send notifications you've opted into (reading reminders, rewards, order/campaign updates).
• To diagnose crashes and keep the app reliable and secure.
• To run age-banded reading campaigns organized by schools, community groups, and Gurdwaras.

3. Who we share it with

We don't sell your data. The following service providers process data on our behalf, only for the purpose stated:

• AI providers (Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, and/or OpenAI, depending on your plan) — receive the text of your chat messages to generate a response.
• Amazon Web Services (S3) — stores book files, cover images, and profile avatars.
• SendGrid — sends account and transactional emails.
• Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) — delivers push notifications, if enabled.
• Sentry — receives crash and error diagnostics from the app to help us fix bugs.
• Google / Apple Sign-In — if you choose to sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name, email, and a stable account identifier from them.

Vidly also integrates with Razorpay for future in-app payment features. As of this version of the app, no purchase you make in Vidly is processed through Razorpay — this section will be updated before that changes.

4. Data retention & deletion

You can delete your account at any time from within the app: Settings → Account → Delete account. This immediately removes your personal information — email, name, phone number, avatar, and date of birth — from our systems and cannot be undone.

Some activity tied to your account (such as points-ledger entries and reading-history rows used for aggregate leaderboards) may be retained in de-identified form after deletion, the same way it would be for any deleted account, so shared features like leaderboards stay accurate for other users.

If you no longer have the app installed, email info@vidyadaily.comfrom the address on your account and we'll process the deletion manually.

5. Children's data

Some Vidly reading campaigns are organized by schools, community groups, or Gurdwaras for younger readers. Date of birth is optional and only used to place a reader in the correct campaign age band. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has an account you did not set up or consent to, contact info@vidyadaily.com and we will delete it.

6. Security

Data in transit between the app and our servers is encrypted with TLS. Access to production data is limited to the people operating the service.

7. Your rights

You can view and update most of your profile information directly in the app (Profile → Edit). You can delete your account and personal data as described in section 4 at any time.

8. Changes to this policy

We'll update the “Last updated” date above when this policy changes. Material changes will be announced in the app.
